Work and Wages - Worldwide Fight Against Exploitation, Wage Dumping, Layoffs, and Unemployment All of those capable of working have the right to reasonable work and a fair wage - on all continents. One full-time job should suffice for supporting two persons. Social-democratic thought and actions are in worldwide opposition to wage dumping, layoffs, and unemployment: Against wage dumping: They support the unions in their efforts to organize internationally. They demand corresponding standards in the allocation of public contracts. Against layoffs: They exercise political pressure. They demand social standards for the allocation of public contracts. They support boycotts. They demand energy and resource prices that cover the identified external costs; this also makes wages again competitive and it creates jobs. Against unemployment: They support a
better distribution of work through corresponding shorter
annual work time. They demand more public funding for
education and continued professional education. They support
projects and training programs for the unemployed, as well
as make contributions to jobs for the underpriviledged. |
